Location:

The Viking project area of interest is located 310 km southwest of DeBeer's Victor Pipe in northern Ontario.

Size:

9 mineral claims covering 1,423 acres.

Ownership:

Diamondex 100%.

Exploration Expenditures:

To date: $680,500

Assets:

The Superior craton in Ontario accounts for 23% of the earth's Archaean rocks. The geology and the lithospheric conditions are very favourable for diamonds. DeBeers reports that the diamonds from Victor, where mine production is scheduled to begin in 2008, have an average value exceeding US $450 per carat.

Overview:

The project was generated in-house based on a 2004 reconnaissance sampling program that recovered abundant kimberlite indicator minerals. Many of the recovered grains exhibit primary surface textures indicating very short glacial transport distances from their sources, likely less than 10 kilometres. Indicator minerals recovered from the area include G10 garnets, eclogitic garnets, picroilmenites, chromites and chrome diopsides.

In 2005, 80 heavy mineral samples were collected to verify the up-ice cut-off of the source areas of discovered kimberlite indicator minerals. This cut-off was established based on the sample picking results from 43 of these samples. A 5,000 line-kilometre high-resolution airborne magnetic survey was flown and 11 high priority targets staked. This was followed by a field program consisting of ground checking additional anomalies and target specific sampling. A test ground magnetic survey was then completed over one of the airborne anomalies.

In October 2007, Diamondex field crews commenced the collection of 800 follow-up till samples. The sample sites are accessible from logging roads. The goal of this sampling campaign is to better define the sources of the kimberlite indicator minerals. The sampling results will be integrated with the high resolution airborne magnetic data collection in 2005 in order to define targets for future drill testing.
